Leaning Church of San Marino in Pastel
Pastels from the beautiful Island of Burano, Italy. I created these with texture as I felt that I was missing some of the feel of the stunning tranquil island of Burano, sitting in Venice's lagoon in Italy. The island is a small community, originally for fisherman. The colours were apparently to help the fishermen identify their house during the foggy winters. How true this is I am not sure. The island is also famous for its Lace - all handmade but an art dying out now. The island has a wonderful sleepy, friendly feel and the residents are so genuinely pleasant and welcoming.
I hope these images go some way towards conveying this spirit
